Shorthanded this week, we focused hard on just getting the harvest out of the field. Chris found time to mow the just-finished broccoli and edamame crops, and started seeding the rye and hairy vetch cover crops that will overwinter and grow back in the spring. That means that Kim focused on doing the harvest and packing that Chris would normally have helped with in a week like this. Riding on the tractor always sounds so exciting and worthy of writing about – it’s something new every week! – but it can’t happen without the constant, everyday work on the farm of bringing the crops in and making them ready for market.
